Torn from You - By Nashoda Rose *Review* #COYER

Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.
At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.
Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.
I was wrong.
(It is highly recommended to read "With You" the novella first).
*Warning* This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

In the age of the e-reader I am no longer able to flip a book over and judge whether I'm in the mood for it. So when my Kobo drew "Torn from You" out of the lucky dip, my god, I don't think I've been more startled by a plot twist. For the first chapter I was rolling my eyes thinking it was too cutesy with not enough back story and then WHAM! The next chapter slapped me in the face with the REAL plot atmosphere. I literally felt my entire body tense. This wasn't a cutesy book...

Rose creates a tornado of emotionally charged drama. She keeps the tension thick and the story raw. Emily, is the perfect leading lady - adapting quickly but realistically to her situation. Her dialogue was everything I wanted to yell out. I was equal parts terrified for her and proud of her strength. Sculpt, or Logan, was an enigma. I was unsure of his intentions and whether he was a hidden good guy or a horrifying bad guy. Rose keeps his nature hidden and reveals the truth in miniscule bites. All I'm going to say is that I despised him until I couldn't. While Emily and Logans relationship was established a little too quickly (should've read the prequel...) Rose builds their continuing connection and growth with strong character development. Definitely placing Nashoda Rose on my favourite authors list.
BRING ON #2!

  1. Wow you've got some good ones this time around - the blurb had me really hopeful and now I'm thinking hell yeah! I think I'll look for the novella, since you think it would have helped the relationship building. great review!
