Felicity Summers is an ambitious reporter who's trying to make a name for herself as a serious investigative journalist with the biggest newspaper in the city; the Chicago Word. When she catches wind of a rumor about the city's mayor that might just be the hottest story of the decade, she jumps at the opportunity to expose the corrupt mayor and derail his chances at winning a second term. All she has to do is infiltrate a private BDSM club to catch him in the act. Simple right? Well, maybe it would have been if not for the club's extremely dominant, gorgeous and charming owner, Sir Alistair Montgomery-Piers. He takes notice of her at one of the scenes and sees something in Felicity that he wants to her to explore. Alistair makes her an offer neither she nor her body can refuse. Can Felicity stay focused on her mission long enough to get the proof for her top secret story, or will Alistair completely take over her heart, mind, body and soul? Reader Advisory. This novel contains the following warnings: Adult Themes. Strong Sexual Situations. Lots of Foul Language. Hot, Naked Bodies. Sexy Accents. Lusty Toys That Make You Beg For More. And a Whole Lot of Other Naughty Things That Will Send Your Libido Into Overdrive... Are Your Ready To Unleash Your Desires?

Without further ado, she walked towards the back to the black door Gregory led her to before marked “Employees only”. She took her membership card and ran it through the card slot and the red light turned green and the door unlocked. She opened it and began making her trek up the two small flights of stairs. Once she reached the top, she parted the red velvet curtains, not sure what she was going to see this time around. She tried hard not to stand in the doorway like a deer caught in a set of headlights, but once again, her feet failed her. This time she didn't have Gregory to guide her and she felt like she was teetering on the edge of a panic attack. Two scenes were going on at the same time. Hanging from a leather swing contraption was a beautiful and very naked blonde woman. Both her legs were spread wide, ankles bound by the straps on the swing. Her wrist were handcuffed to the other end of the swing and she lay helpless, exposed for all to see, while her female Domme spanked her breast teasingly with a leather crop. The other scene was another spanking. A muscular man, almost the size of the bouncer who'd let her in, was bound to that cross-shaped contraption and his female mistress was tearing into him with a leather whip. Each contact to his skin left red welts that the crowd appeared to approve of.
“It's beautiful, isn't it?” a deep, caramel-smooth, British voice asked her from behind causing her to nearly jump out of her skin. So much for playing it cool.
Felicity turned around, ready to curse out whoever it was violating her personal space. But when her eyes trailed up his tall, powerfully built frame and locked on the jade-green gaze of the man before her, she lost her voice. His full, luscious lips parted in a killer smile that would make Don Juan envious. His jaw was strong and defined and made her want to run her fingers along the smooth lines. Everything about this man was sheer perfection. Never in her life had she seen a man so beautiful with such a presence, that it engulfed her. It frightened her and excited her. She immediately felt her nipples harden and the little things were betraying her through her bra and blouse. His eyes didn't miss the show, either. They glided down her body, taking in her appearance from head to toe, lingering only but a second at her breasts. Long enough for his lip to quirk up at the corner ever so slightly.
“W-what did you say?” was the only words Felicity could form at the moment. He ought to be grateful for that... or was it the other way around? she wondered.

“I said they're beautiful, aren't they?” he repeated. That same sensuous, crisp accent slicing through her mental barrier like a hot knife through butter.

Simmons writes BDSM magic. I was a little skeptical it was going to be another typical billionaire Dom books but there's a beautiful dynamic built between the main characters which sets it apart from other novels. Simmons is savvy on the BDSM front and allows a trustful relationship to develop from mutual attraction. I enjoyed the "discovery" aspect of the novel and it transitioned well into a slightly more experienced level of intimate play. Alistair was a flawless Dom who was blessedly lacking in the arrogant asshole persona that so often graces billionaire's in BDSM these days. He was equal parts firm as he was sweet. I liked that he laughed and didn't have some horrifying past that "made him the way he is." This, my friends, is how a writer can have a dominant male without making him a brooding douchebag. Kudos Simmons!

My only problems were with Felicity and the finale drama. Felicity was judgemental and she often made me cringe with her comments. Granted she sorted herself out and stopped being so closed minded but it definitely made her less likeable. She also came across as slightly naive and whingey when she didn't know what to do or what decision to make. God dammit woman where was the authoritative confidence you showed at the end. In regards to the finale drama, the relationship conflict wasn't a surprise but the last emotional panic seemed a little bit over dramatic.

Otherwise this is a wonderful BDSM read and definitely a high recommend. Think Cherise Sinclair - Masters of the Shadowlands series, Simmons is of a similar vein. Grab a copy and let me know what YOU think! :)

Devil's Salvation - By Gemma James *Review & Giveaway*

Devil's Kiss series - Book 4 | Add to Goodreads
It's been a year since Kayla Sutton walked away from Gage Channing, the man who blackmailed her into sexual slavery. Now he's back, and so is Ian Kaplan, Kayla's one-time lover from her college days. Both men want her, but only one holds the power to make her submit—to her own dark desires and to the truth she still denies, even to herself.
But Gage's jealousy is his worst enemy, and when he thinks Kayla has chosen Ian, he sets in motion a drastic plan to claim what's his. Only Kayla never expects him to infiltrate her heart so effortlessly; and she never dreamed there would come a day when he wouldn't want her—when the mere sight of her turns him away in disgust.
He believes she’s committed the ultimate sin, but will she use his mistake to finally escape the cage of his obsession? Or will she do whatever it takes to make him see he can entrust his heart to her...just as she's already lost the core of her being to him?

My breath grew shallow, from arousal, from fear. Gage was good at that—eliciting strong emotions that contrasted so sharply, they knocked a person on their ass in total confusion. I shouldn’t want him. I should scream at him to get the hell out of my house and never come back. I should get a freaking restraining order.

As if the turmoil inside me didn’t exist, I set our omelets on the table and calmly took a seat across from him. “What did you mean by boundaries?” I stabbed a bite and shoved it in my mouth. Raising my eyes to his turned out to be a mistake. His hypnotic stare paralyzed me; I couldn’t look away if my life depended on it. I fell into the ocean of his gaze and almost missed the satisfied quirk of his lips. Almost.

“You know by now that a relationship with me won’t be your standard variety. You’ll have rules that govern your behavior.”

“My behavior?”

“Yes. I expect you to obey me.” He set his fork down and winced. “But last year I was cruel to you and that’s not how I normally treat a woman. Not even when they beg me to hurt them beyond what I’m comfortable with.”

“Then why?” I choked out. Everything he’d done hit me square in the chest, and his admission that he’d been exceptionally cruel hurt more than it should.

“I wanted to destroy what was his.” He lowered his head with a frown. At least he had the grace to look ashamed.

“Congratulations.” I let my fork drop, satisfied with the clatter it made. “You succeeded.”

“No, I didn’t. Your strength is both my frustration and my undoing. There’s nothing more irritating or sexier on a woman.” He took a bite, and his gaze veered up to mine. “And to clarify on what I mean by boundaries, we’ll set limits this time. You’ll have a safe word.”

“You’re talking as if we’re going to be together.”

“I’m not leaving here without you, Kayla.”

For this fourth installment, I feel like James uses this book as an opportunity to make Gage less of an a**hole and create a better understanding of his nasty motivations. At this point Gage is still whipping back and forth between caring nice guy and overbearing d*ckwad. We were left with Gage re-entering Kayla's life but no real reason why. I actually hated him throughout the first three books because of how horrible he was acting towards Kayla. Unfortunately in this book despite getting some of his past, Gage is STILL being horrible towards Kayla and possibly even more so than before! He keeps pushing Kayla to trust him with herself yet I totally understand why she doesn't. He has done nothing to earn that trust and on top of that their relationship started with blackmail... not the most conducive of situations no?
Kayla is probably just as annoying because she knows that at this point in the story Gage hasn't changed and yet because she's addicted to their sexy time she continues to return to him - bringing her daughter in their twisted romance no less. Kayla comes across as a protective mother and yet continues to make a selfish decision to stay with Gage despite being unsure whether he daughter would be wholly safe - not okay Kayla! Their relationship made me cringe because while I admit their chemistry is smoking hot, they were not in a point in their lives where they should have pursued or strong armed each other into doing. Ian, the absolute darling, is right in recognizing abusive behaviour because I struggle to see the love in their Dom/sub relationship...
Despite all of this I did enjoy reading the books because James writes really well! The sexy time scenes are explosive but the characters and how the book feels slightly rushed to get to some kind of "conclusion" stops Devil's Salvation from more than three stars. Give it a shot and let me know what you think - maybe I've just had enough of the misunderstood arrogant billionaire? Argh maybe.

Uncovering You - By Scarlett Edwards *Review and Giveaway*

Uncovering You Series - Book 1 | Add to Goodreads
RELEASE DATE: MARCH 27TH
When I wake up in a dark, unfamiliar room, I have no idea what's waiting for me in the shadows. My imagination conjures up demons of the worst kind.
Reality is much worse:
A collar with no leash. A prison with no walls. And a life stripped of meaning.
I am presented with a vile contract and asked to sign. It outlines the terms of my servitude. The only information I have about my captor are the two small letters inked at the bottom:
J.S.
Armed with only my memories, I must do everything I can to avoid becoming ensnared in his twisted mind games. But in the end, it all comes down to one choice:

Resist and die.
Or submit, and sign my life away.

“Lilly.”

Oh God. It’s him. There’s no mistaking that rich, masculine treble.

What’s he doing down here?

“M-Mr. Stonehart,” I stutter, turning. I curse my inability to hide my surprise. He totally caught me off-guard. I have to look up to meet his eyes. Then up some more.

The face that I find is so striking it should belong to a Greek god.

He’s younger than I expected. Late thirties, maybe early forties.

That means he started his company when he was younger than me!

Dark scruff lines his angular cheeks. His jet-black hair is styled in long, natural waves. My fingers itch to run through it.

Totally inappropriate.

He has a prominent nose that might be too big on a less imposing man, but on him, it’s perfect.

In short, he’s a package of the purest masculinity I’ve ever seen.

And then there are his eyes. Oh my God. His eyes. They pierce into me like honing missiles. They are the deepest black I have ever seen. They would be frightening if they weren’t so beautiful. When the light reflects a certain way, you catch a glimpse of the purple underneath.

They are like midnight sapphires. His eyes reveal a cunning intellect. Those eyes do not miss a thing.

Add all that to his towering height, his wide shoulders, his confident-yet-at-ease posture… and Stonehart cuts an intimidating figure.

My gaze darts to his left hand before I can stop it. No ring. He’s unmarried.

He looks down at me, expectantly. His eyes narrow ever so slightly, and I feel like I’m being dissected, measured up, and tucked away in some small corner of his brain. I imagine this is what a gemstone feels like under the magnifying class of the most critical appraiser.

Stonehart clears his throat. I come to with a start, realizing I haven’t said anything in ages. I open my mouth, but the capacity for speech seems like a foreign concept to my brain. “I—”

Somebody bumps into me from behind. I stagger forward. I’m not used to these shoes, so my heel steps the wrong way. My ankle twists under me, and I start to fall.

I don’t fall far. The hand still on my elbow tightens, and Stonehart pulls me into him.

I plaster myself onto the solid steel wall the man has for a body. I catch a scent of his cologne. It’s a deep, musky smell with a hint of charred spruce that is all male. It scrambles my thoughts even more.

“Sorry!” a rushed voice calls out. From the corner of my eye, I see the postman giving a hurried, apologetic wave.

Although the sequence lasts less than a second, it feels like an eternity. Pressed up against him like that, I don’t want to move. I know that I couldn’t have made a worse first impression.

Stonehart eases me off him with a firm yet gentle grip. Our eyes meet. I flush the most vibrant red. His fingers graze my forehead as he brushes a lock of hair out of my face.

Any tenderness I may have imagined vanishes when Stonehart takes out his cell. He long dials a key and growls an order. “Steven. See the delivery boy leaving right now? Have his building pass revoked.”

I gape. Stonehart keeps speaking. “Wait. I thought of one better. Bar his company from accessing the building.” There’s a pause. “For how long? Indefinitely. FedEx can talk to me when they have an improved employee selection program in place.”

The phone call gives me just enough time to compose myself. My heart’s still beating out of my chest. But nobody has to know that.

I speak without thinking. “You’re going to restrict the entire company from serving this building because of that?”

Stonehart humors me with an answer. “A company’s employees are its most important asset. Their behavior reflects the organization as a whole. If FedEx decided that clown is good enough for them, it tells me they’re sloppy. I do not do business with sloppy organizations.”

“What about the other tenants in the building?” I ask. “Won’t that piss them off?”

When I hear myself and realize how improper my question is, my cheeks flame red again.

Stonehart’s eyes darken, as if he cannot believe I asked that question. I open my mouth to apologize for my imprudence, hating the way my professional skills have evaporated into thin air. I’m cut off by a short, barked laugh.

“Miss Ryder.” He sounds amused. “I believe that is the most direct and honest question anybody has dared ask me in weeks.” He takes my elbow again and leads me to the elevators. I have to take two quick steps to match one of his long strides.

“Yes,” he continues. “They will be ‘pissed off.’ But the perk of owning a building—” he hits the elevator call button, “—is that you get to make executive decisions.” He gives me an unreadable glance as the doors open. “That is, at the risk of being questioned by inexperienced interns.”

If that isn’t a loaded remark, I don’t know what is. I flush scarlet red for the third time since I’ve met him. I’ve never had a man throw me so off balance.

The elevator is packed, for which I’m infinitely thankful. The trip up will give me some time to properlycompose myself.

Gratitude turns to panic when the crowd files out, meek as mice, when Stonehart steps in. None of the people waiting in the lobby follow us.

The doors close. I’m alone in here with him. My heart’s beating as fast as a hummingbird’s wings.

He catches me staring. “Impressed?” he asks.

“They know you,” I manage.

His dark eyes flash with amusement. “Astute.”

First of all - cliffhanger. However, Edwards does note this is simply the first section of the larger novel. If any of you followed the "Anything He Wants" series by Sara Fawkes - this is the same.
Second of all - HOLY BEJEEZUS! I went from the prologue filled with random dates and flashbacks thinking "oh no I don't understand anything, I'm going to hate this" to "omg I love where this is going and it's totally freaking me out, WHERE'S THE REST?!"

Lilly has a spine of steel. She fights every moment she is trapped and confused. She plots and schemes refusing to bow to the wishes of some degenerate kidnapper. I love how sassy she remains despite her situation, I'm a sucker for strong women characters and Lilly is tough incarnate. Though we get only snippets of JS, his persona as demanding and caring is built beautifully. He sounds like the dominant male billionaire I'm going to love and hate in equal measures! From the messages to Lilly's memory - his scenes are perfectly restrained and minimal. This tantalizing start to the "Uncovering You" series promises fights, dark erotic romance, stand-offs, submission, gentleness and spunk. The only problem I have if how long I have to wait until the next one!

Edwards has given us a mysterious, dark novella with a hint of things yet to come and I am literally panting like a dog wanting the next part. While reading I was reminded of the illustrious Kitty Thomas' "Guilty Pleasure's" though who knows where Edwards will take us from this moment forward. This novella has the perfect level of tension and the best intertwined backstory. I was hungry for every ounce of information Edwards wanted to throw my way. This series is truly one to look out for and Edwards darker side is shining with literary magic. Don't take my word for it mark down March the 27th and get your copy asap!

When Madison Morris decides to hire an assistant to help run her naughty bookshop, she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Aggressive Andy doesn't quite make the grade, but continues to push her buttons in other areas, while uptight and utterly repressed Gabriel can't quite take Madison's training techniques. One makes her grasp control, while the other makes her lose it. But the lines are blurring and she's no longer sure who's leading and who's following. In the midst of kinky threesomes and power plays, can Madison work out what she really wants?

5 stunning stars out of 5
This novel was completely unexpected. I believed it would be a typical Dom/sub novel but holy moley, this is not typical. I haven't read many Domme/Dominatrix novels because they've never appealed but I LOVE THIS NOVEL! The characters are beautifully developed and the Dom/sub relationship shifts seamlessly from Andy to Madison. I loved the dynamic between all three of the characters, their exploits were surprising and so well written. I was riveted from start to finish and I had no question who Madison would choose in the end but you're going to have read it to find out. I definitely recommend that you give "Control" a read!

Hers - By Dawn Robertson (#COYER)

I've been trying to write the review for this book for a week. After much writing, rewriting and general "argh, why can't I write this" I realized what my difficultly is: I really liked this book but when coming to review it I found so many things that irritated me. Being all muddled up with feelings of enjoyment and criticism, I couldn't figure out how to write the review until I had a moment of clarity - just write about how I felt. I know, I know, newbie blogger here, give me a little slack it was a revelation to me! So without further nancy pantsy about why this took so long here's my review.

Seven is a take no prisoners, bitchin' boss of a woman. I loved her from the moment she laid out careful plans to buy out the majority of shares in her asshole ex-boyfriend's family business. She is a sassy lady who knows that being in charge AND being a woman means that you have to shut people down like you have something to prove, usually that you are just as tough as a man. However, Seven wasn't always like this, she was not single minded about her career and left herself open to more intimate and personal connections with others. But thanks to the asshle ex-boyfriend called Daniel and unfortunate heartbreak, Seven locked herself off from others. Actually, to be perfectly honest it was much earlier in Seven's life that she lost trust in men but I will let you find that one out by reading the book. Seven meets Levi at the 'Sinners and Swingers' kink club as Mistress Marilyn. Levi sticks out like a sore thumb, dressed like a banker he is an obvious new attendee of the club. His reason for being there is that he has a new found kink the lovely ladies he usually frequents don't want to get in on. One thing leads to another and we have one sexy hot sex scene. Meant to be a single one night stand, Levi and Seven meet again in the darnedest of places and so begins our story.
