His quest is made nearly impossible by the interference of a persnickety archivist, Keziel—his angelic ex—and a dedicated cult intent on keeping the Spear out of the wrong hands. But to Bedlam, “wrong” is just an arbitrary word, and there’s no way he’s letting Khet die without a fight.

Another solid Urban Fantasy novel from Corrigan. I was interested to see how she would swing the shift in narrator but we just a three person trade off. Keeping up with Cassie, as usual, who is struck by the departure of Gabriel and the inconsistency of Bedlam. We get to see into the mind of Bedlam and he lives up to his gift of chaos because keeping on track through his thoughts is impossible. I found his ability to converse with himself slightly annoying toward the end. However, his heart of gold shone through in his quest to save Cassie. Our final narrator is an angel called Siren who is the speaker of truth. I liked this new character much more than I thought. She was a slice of responsibility without Cassie's need to constantly help others. I adored her truth telling abilities even when they were slightly abrasive. Siren gave the story more order when Bedlam was a riot of random emotions and focuses. 

I was sucked in from beginning to end and will definitely be continuing the series. I want to know if angels will ever be able to love without their tragic stories. Could Gabriel and Cassie ever be together? Will Bedlam be redeemed from his selfish one true love? This is truly a brilliant start to a series that could take us anywhere. The future is endless and if these past two books are anything to go off, it will be a marvelous ride.

Loved it! At first I was worried it was going to get all Biblical preachy on me but thank goodness it didn't. Corrigan uses Christian old testament just like Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology and uses it well! I loved the new spin on oracle powers, demons and angels. I was drawn in from page one and could not put "Oracle of Philadelphia" down. My only issue was I couldn't quite believe how vested Carrie was in the soul of Sebastian. I understand wanting to save him but the suffering and risks she endured was above and beyond the call of duty. I mean she didn't even know the guy! Carrie talked to him once and met him twice before deciding she was willing to do what she had to do to save him. Obviously he was a nice guy and pure of heart but she wasn't emotionally vested in him and he was quite resigned to his fate so...

Aside from that I truly enjoyed how Corrigan wove together strands of various different myths, legends and stories to create Carrie's history. I admired Carrie's strength and determination even while doubting her motivation. The storyline was perfectly closed off though my interest in Gabriel and Cassie was piqued. There is a sequel from Bedlam's point of view which I am going to have a look at but probably not until I've depleted a significant portion of my to-read list. "Oracle" is a great urban fantasy novel and the beginning of what looks to be a fantastic series.

Naked as the day he was born – or created – his torso and thighs held an interesting pattern of scars that haphazardly healed.

He rubbed his chest with one hand, his golden eyes widening in alarm, and in that moment, Lucy knew she absolutely had to be the one to serve him. His entire demeanor differed from the others. He hesitated to join the others at the banquet table, almost like he didn’t want to partake in the feast, even though she knew he had to be starving by now. Still, he reminded her of… her. A reluctant guest.

          An unfamiliar weight settled over Sawyer, and he recognized that for the first time in two thousand years he knew sin. How had Azas done that to him? Slapped Original Sin over his shoulders like a thousand pound straight jacket, trapping him to the mortal realm. Born into the angelic dimension of the divine, he’d heard about sin, but he’d never actually experienced it. Now, healed as one of the Fallen on earth, he knew nakedness, and hunger pains gripped his stomach so completely that he didn’t hesitate to join the others at the manifested banquet table.

          Woodenly scraping a chair back from the table, he collapsed against the cushioned fabric as it scratched the back of his thighs and bare ass. While the Fallen indulged in the delicacies from every region of the earth, a parade of nude women served and danced around them. Sawyer’s body tightened in response to the naked flesh, and he groaned at his own lack of control. He shut his eyes to the visual feast. He might be a Fallen angel now, but that didn’t mean he had to indulge in whatever the demon offered. Especially if he hoped to have words with his Maker and return to the right side of the Pearly Gates.

A well written novella with an interesting premise. Unfortunately due to the length, Cleveland isn't able to fully explore and develop the story of Sawyer and Lucy. Instead their love becomes an insta-love romance and heavy on the dramatics. I think if Cleveland had lengthened it she would have done a fine job of building their relationship because she writes beautifully. There were moments were it got a little preachy but it's no surprise when reading a book about angels and God. It wasn't overly preachy but definitely noticeable. I wasn't drawn to any of the characters but they weren't annoy just a little hard to understand. "Pushed" reminded me a little of Romeo and Juliet with a sacrifice anything for love but if you want a brief romance novel with an interesting story line, Cleveland has you covered.

Thirteen - By Kelley Armstrong

** spoiler alert ** Savannah gets to be with Adam which was what I was hanging out for. I mean we all knew it was a forgone conclusion but it was nice to have it in writing. The Cabals try to charge Savannah with killing someone important or something which leads to the death of some old guy who is related to them. Angels keep flitting in and out as do the demons. To be honest I lost track of this series a little after Paige got together with Lucas. Once I pick the books up I remember why I was hooked but they haven't been books that have stuck in my mind. The ending was satisfactory and the battles were definitely gory, actually more so than necessary. Everyone is still alive and happy at the end of it so it's a job well done.




It definitely isn't the best book in the series and I wish we had gotten more Clay and Elena overall. A solid series that does require a bit of mental maneuvering to keep them all together. I recommend the series to any fans of urban fiction, Devon Monk, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs and Faith Hunter.
